This film briefly covers the relationship of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and Jonathan Coggan. Jonathan is a paralympic wheelchair rugby player who is representing Great Britain in Rio Olympic games.
Jonathan battled through injuries from a car crash which left him paralyzed, but this did not stop him becoming the athlete he is.
Jonathan acknowledges the vital and critical role the Air Ambulance crew played in his recovery. Let this film stir you to support EHAAT, and to support Jonathan at Rio Olympics.
The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust, unlike NHS emergency services, is a Charity providing a free life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for the critically ill and injured of Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
Each HEMS Team consists of a Pilot, a Pre-hospital Care Doctor and a Critical Care Paramedic who can be rushed to the scene of an incident with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care that is normally only found in the Hospital Emergency Department. Once stabilised, the patient will be conveyed by air or land to the most appropriate hospital for their needs.
It costs £6.5 million every year to cover all charitable costs and aircraft operations. Without access to National Lottery funding and with only limited support from Government, we rely upon the generosity and goodwill of the people and businesses of Essex and Hertfordshire to remain operational and keep saving lives
